ROLE DESCRIPTION

Bia is seeking a passionate and versatile  Senior Infrastructure and Software Engineer to lead our cloud infrastructure efforts while supporting the development of our scalable software platform. This hybrid role combines deep infrastructure expertise with solid software engineering skills. You will be instrumental in ensuring that our platform — which connects electric vehicle charging infrastructure with power grid operators — remains reliable, secure, and scalable.

As part of our engineering team, you will:

• Own, manage, and maintain our cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
• Design and implement robust, scalable, and observable infrastructure in a microservices environment.
• Support and guide the software engineering team on infrastructure best practices and tooling.
• Collaborate across engineering, data science, and product teams to ensure infrastructure and services remain aligned with business goals.
• Participate in all phases of software development, contributing clean, maintainable code when needed.
• Implement and support application-level communication protocols between EV charging stations and our central platform.
• Drive automation, monitoring, and deployment strategies to enhance performance and reliability.
• Actively participate in product planning and continuous delivery alongside the DevOps and software teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

MANDATORY

We’re looking for candidates who have:

• 7+ years of professional experience in software or infrastructure engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or another major cloud provider (AWS, Azure).
• Deep understanding of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
• Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Solid networking and security knowledge in cloud-based environments.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, Shell).
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices architectures.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and backend development using Java or Kotlin.
• Strong collaboration skills and comfort working in Agile development environments.
• Familiarity with Quarkus, MongoDB, and SQL.

NICE TO HAVE

The following qualifications are not required but would be a strong plus:

• Experience working with GitLab for version control and CI/CD orchestration.
• Background in the energy sector.
• Prior involvement in cross-team technical leadership or mentorship.
• Experience implementing application-layer communication protocols between distributed systems.
